wearing a ring

the first-ever recorded diamond engagement ring was given to Mary of Burgundy in 1477 by Archduke Maximilian of Hamburg.
it is fascinating to me that a tradition over 500 years old continues to be prevalent in today's modern society.

of material possessions, my wedding ring is my most prized and loved treasure.
but not for a material reason.
although i love the aesthetic style of my ring, and i love the diamonds and the gold, there is something much more special in the meaning of my ring.

why is a wedding ring so important?
i've heard opinions that wedding rings are silly,
and not needed to show that you love someone and are devoted to them.
and while i agree to an extent,
i can't help but think my wedding ring is so special to me.

a wedding ring is an outward expression of an inward commitment.

when i look down at my ring, i am constantly reminded of how much the man who gave me this ring loves me. i'm reminded of the day when he knelt on one knee and looked me in the eyes and asked me for an eternity together. i'm reminded of the day when we vowed to spend forever together, as husband and wife. and i'm reminded of the love that we share and the devotion that we give to one another.

maybe i'm silly for thinking this way,
but i really don't think that i am.
i wear my ring because i want everyone to see that i have a man worth wearing it for.
that i have a relationship with my husband that sends me to the sky with happiness,
and that i am completely devoted to him.

I so agree ! I was upset when I heard Prince William wouldn't be wearing one. Lame !! Its not about letting people know your married so they dont hit/flirt with you it's showing love for the love of your life. :)
