our weekend

i loved this weekend.
it was a great culmination of all sorts of busy-ness and even more laziness.

through the eyes of instagram (i'm obsessed!):

taking my sister's babies swimming.
okay is she not the cutest 5 year old on the planet? it's not up for debate.

coveting beautiful purses while on a trip to Park City with my lady pal KT

cuts and scrapes from floating the Provo river with friends. poor Chin had it the worst... i didn't even need band-aids! he is hardcore, obviously.

trying to fit one more book into my summer reading before school starts.
have any of you read this?
dynamite.
Ree Drummond is SO COOL.

between all of the excitement that this weekend entailed...
we spent a lot of it sleeping, eating, and sleeping some more.
long mornings in bed and late nights.
you'd think we're still young or something.

what did you do this weekend?

super bowls and stick shifts

i hope you all had a fabulous superbowl weekend!
i have to confess: i did not watch even one minute of the superbowl.
we went up to my sister's house with the rest of my family,
and while the men ate their hearts out and watched football all night,
the girls sat around and chatted and did crafts.
oh well. i don't get into football much.

but i did do something exciting last night!
i learned how to drive STICK SHIFT!
i have wanted to learn how forever, but have never really had the opportunity to learn.
when we got married my sister practically gave us (we paid $50) her 1999 ford escort.
we don't drive it too much but it's nice to have a second car for when we are doing separate things.
but, one problem, i couldn't drive it! it was practically useless to me since i didn't even know how to turn it on.

not our actual car, but pretty much the same thing.

so last night Chin took me to a parking lot (bless his soul) to teach me how to drive stick.
it took me twenty minutes to take my foot off the clutch, and i did kill the car a few times (i was impressed it was actually only a few times), but when i got the hang of it, it was so fun!
i drove all around provo (slowly), and it is my new favorite thing to do.

i can check that off my to-do list now :) (FINALLY!)

how was your weekend?
do anything exciting?

windgardium leviweekend

this weekend was crazy.
we had so much going on i couldn't even think straight!
it started thursday night at the midnight showing of harry potter,
we had a blast!
not only did we have fun with our friends, LOVE the movie, and enjoy staying up super late,
we also had a blast dressing up... we were supposed to be luna and neville just for funsies.

friday we headed up to salt lake to attend a wedding dinner for our friends Nick and Kyla Jackson. The dinner was wonderful and the wedding saturday morning was beautiful.

Saturday and Sunday we took care of our niece and nephew Luke and Julia.

these pictures are from our wedding- precious!
they are so cute and so fun, but MAN ALIVE we had our hands full.
it was my first time watching kids over night.
it was tough, but it taught me a lot about parenting.
it also told me that i have a lot of growing up to do before we even think about having children.
luckily kids aren't in our near future. someday though.

needless to say, i am exhausted.
also, i needed to take a book out in the library and they were all checked out.
i lost my phone.
and when i went to my humanities professor's office to ask if she had seen it,
we got on the topic of thanksgiving and i blurted out that i wouldn't be in class tomorrow.
she was not pleased.
so:
i have no sleep, no book, no phone, and no teacher's pet award.
happy monday.

it's about time

happy monday!
mondays may be my least favorite day of the week but i
FINALLY finished my "acorn wreath" from dana made it.
it was so easy, just tedious and i would sporadically work on it.
but here is the easy diy for a fun holiday wreath:

what you need:
Jordan Almonds or Lima Beans (or any kind of beans) or Acorns or really... anything!
I used Jordan Almonds because i couldn't find any acorns to pick.

A straw wreath. You could use any wreath template but straw is the cheapest.

Spray Paint. I used copper metallic because i love how festive it is but you could use any color your little heart desires. :)

instructions:
heat up a glue gun. Attach your almonds/acorns/beans to your wreath with a small dab of glue for each almond. i think it is pretty to put them on in a pattern, and then they also fit together better. To make your wreath lay flat against the door, only put almonds/acorns on the visible parts of the wreath and not on the back. Once you've attached your almonds, spray paint your wreath with two coats of paint.
let it dry, attach festive ribbons to hang on your wreath hanger,
and you're done!
seriously easy, and so cute!
plus you can change out your ribbon for Christmas or any holiday.
enjoy :)

real life

i'm not going to write you a poem
or put up perfect pictures to attract your attention.
sometimes i get annoyed with blogs like that.

so our weekend consisted of:
dessert.
at The Chocolate in orem, ut.
yum! we had heard about it and decided to try it out.
they have huge slices of cake and yummy looking cupcakes.
i ended up getting a mint brownie
and chin got a cazookie (utah's version of a pazookie).

on saturday i bought red lipstick.
big step for me people.
i'm not a lipstick person and i have never owned a tube of lipstick.
but i was feeling adventurous

i have huge lips

i'm almost done with my acorn wreath,
i have weird recurring dreams every night,
i'm excited about the menu for this week,
and my mom comes back into town on thursday.

case of the... fridays?

i know it's friday but i have a serious case of the mondays today.
it's cloudy and chilly here in provo and after christian left this morning i quietly snuggled into his side of the bed
(don't tell him but i covet his side of the bed).
i should ask him to switch with me.
i laid all the way under the covers for a good half hour before coming out of my cave and facing the real world...
at least it's the weekend or i would really not get out of bed.

thank you kaitlin marie photography for the photo!

happy weekend! any plans you want to share?

hidden treasures

let's face it. no one likes katy perry.
and if you do- sorry.
but... this song changed my life.
it is so perfect.
who knew a revamped version of her song could sound so great?

lazy mondays

this weekend was busy.
maybe not as busy as i think but i felt like i was going going going the whole time.
On Friday night we had devin and robli over for some burgers and it was great to catch up with them. after chin had his flag football game and their team dominated once again (he is so good at football... who knew?).
After we got some yozone with clairey and then headed home due to pure exhaustion.
Saturday we worked out, ran errands, and did a quick flashback of freshman year: went to a dance party. there was some hugeeee birthday party at alpine village and i headed over to lizer, jane, kir, and katie's place to get ready with them.
the party: golf bros and tennis hoes (classy name right? psych. there were some pretty classless people there as well) was a success and although chin and i only stayed for a little bit, we had fun dancing with and seeing everyone.
on sunday after church we headed up to tutu & grandad's house for a cousin dinner. I was introduced to most of the cousins that i haven't met yet (i only have four and chin has about a million so every time i meet one i have a hard time keeping track) and it was great! after we headed home and watched a movie at the pierce's, this really nice couple in our apartment complex, and the barnes, another really nice pair.

thennnnnnnn i had to get down to business. i had been procrastinating my landscape design redraft project for about a week and my goal was to do it on saturday but we were so busy! so. 11:30 sunday night i started my project with 9 1/2 hours till the deadline. Luckily it's not my master plan or a hugeee assignment but it took kirsten all week to finish it! shame on me for being so foolish and starting so late. i had finished about 3/4 of the way at around 3:30 am and got into bed at 4... woke up at 8 to finish the project and finished before it was due at 10 am. hallelujiah. i felt like it was freshman year again where i wouldn't start my homework until 1 or 2 every night. i don't miss that about last year.

my very cluttered kitchen counter full of all my drafting supplies... late night dmb sesh
my FINISHED project all ready to hand in.
since i am feeling very sleep deprived i haven't done much today. i slept for two hours this afternoon, lazily made dinner, and am still out of it.
