twenty years young

yesterday i turned twenty.
and if you've read my previous post, you know i wasn't too thrilled about it.
but now i am here to report, my birthday was fantastic, and i am rearing and ready to start a whole new decade of my life!
roaring twenties.

saturday night we went to the Tree Room at Sundance to start the festivities.
it is my favorite restaurant. not only is the atmosphere intimate, woodsy, and earthy, but they are genuinely interested in catering to the needs of their customers. quality is their main concern. and we weren't disappointed.

we started our meal out with Butternut Squash Ravioli with Duck Confit in Chicken Stock, followed by their famous Sundance Rolls and complimentary Pheasant Sausage in a Sunchoke Garlic Puree.
I ordered the Tree Room Pepper Steak with Mashed Potatoes, Wilted Spinach, and Mango Chutney.
chin ordered the Glazed Free Range Chicken Breast with Pecan Risotto, Sweet Potatoes, Golden Beets and Dried Cranberry.
i feel fancy just typing these dishes.

For dessert we split their Warm Chocolate Truffle Cake with deep, rich Valrhona Cocoa Sorbet. I'm not kidding, this stuff was so rich it we weren't expecting it to be cold when we put the sorbet into our mouths.

all in all, if you can't tell, i love the Tree Room. I highly recommend it for a special (and i mean really special because it can be pricy) occasion.

On sunday we drove up to wolf creek in Ogden where we met Maren and Jordan. They had gotten some deal where they had a weekend up at the resort with a big condo that we could share with them. We talked by the fireplace Sunday night as over two feet of snow drizzled the mountains.

we woke up monday to the sound of a new era in my life and got ready to go skiing!
i love to ski, but Chin hadn't been since he was 13, so we were ready for an adventure.

we headed up to Powder mountain and skied in almost 18 inches of fresh powder. Jordan, below, just couldn't stay afloat in all the snow.

we had a great day of skiing. Chin did fantastic. he was such a natural! it was like riding a bike for him. once you know how, you never forget. we had so much fun and by the end of the day, we were exhausted.

chin, being the angel that he is, impressively bought me this watch for my birthday.
i love gold. and i love watches.
you could say i'm mildly obsessed. he did such a good job! i was so impressed with his birthday gift skills.

my birthday was great, i am kicking myself for being so mopey about it before.
did you all have a nice long weekend?
